Not to worry. I bought the old model with the on/off paddle on amazon and I can confirm it is as good as my 21 year old 14 cup model. Well worth 120 bucks. Just don’t buy the newer models. They simply throw food around the bowl and chop very unevenly.
I'd be lost without my Cuisinart 11-cup for slaws, salads, sauces, shredding, and pie crusts. I've been using one for 40 years - is that how long they've been around? - and bought a new one probably 10 years ago.
I still have the attachment for “kneading” bread, but being a bread maker, I never thought it would work as well as kneading by hand (which I also happen to love).
I use my 11 cup Cuisinart, which is probably at least 30 years old, all the time. For hummus, for grating veg, for slicing veg, it saves so much time and is so easy to use. One part broke a few years ago, and I was so relieved to be able to order the exact part from Cuisinart. It’s not difficult to clean, either. I’d much rather wash it than spend time and energy to grate zucchini, or slice cabbage, or so many other tasks!
Agreed! Much easier to both remove food from and clean than the Vitamix — I love my vitamix, too, but I always feel I leave a quarter of the hummus I make behind in all the various curves and crannies.
My Cuisinart has been with me for over 20 years, it’s a beast and an example of quality engineering. I don’t have a blender or a standing mixture and over the years have figured out how to use for making pastry, pie and cookie doughs. It’s key for mixing the spice blends i make in my kimchi and for making my harissa. And the shredding attachments have never let me down shredding quantum’s of veggies and especially the cabbage I tend to consume. My only concern is the building anxiety I get when I think that eventually it will breakdown and the new Cuisinart has been built to be a more disposable product in all its design. Haha, I love my food processor a great tool!
Maybe it never will Frank! If it's lasted this long with such heavy use, maybe it's here for the long haul. I use mine way more than my blender and stand mixer, both of which I have moved to the basement for receiving such little use. It's so nice to have the counter cleared!
I love my Cuisinart (tiny 7 cup, bought before I got married, so over 25 years old and still going strong!) and use it weekly. I should upgrade to a bigger size, but I just do things in batches and I'd hate to give it up. My Matfer mandoline, on the other hand, is used maybe twice a year for scalloped potatoes. Maybe I should dig out the other blades and try to actual shred with it!
I agree — I replace my old one a few years ago, and I broke the lid shortly thereafter. I was able to replace the lid, but still, I didn't have any issue with my old model for nearly 20 years.
I use my Cuisinart almost every day. Making pizza dough, salad dressing chopping vegetables slicing potatoes. I don't want to cook without it.

Same! Mine sits permanently on my countertop. Sauce! I forgot.
Echoing what’s here, have used my 11-cup Breville forever, at least 11 years. The regular blade and shredding discs are all I ever use!
Same! I don't know where any of the other attachments are.

I use my Cuisinart (11-cup) several times a week, but I’ve rarely used the shredding disk! Now I want to make a slaw or 2, sans mandoline. 😂
It's life changing!

I agree with you-I use the food processor frequently-- for shredding larger amounts of cheese and vegetables, as well as for pie dough,

Yeah, don't upgrade until you have to! 25 years is amazing.
I do use an old food processor to shred zucchini for the freezer - perfect to thaw out for zucchini bread. 😊
Smart!
