Puréed sweet potatoes and melted chocolate chips make a delicious, not too sweet, and super easy vegan chocolate frosting. (I can’t remember where I saw this tip.)

Maybe Joy the Baker? I remember seeing this too!

I’ll try it.

I recently made a recipe that added pumpkin purée to granola. I was surprised to find it a wonderful addition, in both moisture and flavour .

I have always wondered how this would work — it's counterintuitive in regard to creating crunch, but I've heard it's great!

I’ve been using pumpkin purée since the 70’s from the Victory Garden Cookbook. I’m curious to try the deep blue sweet potatoes in your recipe; a super healthy breed as read in the Blue Zone. This season I’m making my Turkey stuffing from your cornbread. Thanks

Fun! Love this idea.

I adore the Victory Garden Cookbook. My poor copy is all taped up! Two recipes that immediately come to mind are the squash cornbread and the sweet potato-chocolate marble cake, which my mom used to make. Such a treasure of a book.

I don’t have the Victory Garden Cookbook...do I need to find a copy to add to my collection?

Yes! A go to for any vegetable.

I guess it depends. In some ways it’s quite outdated--in appearance and a lot of the recipes. But it’s also a wonderful resource, an A to Z of vegetables. It was published as a companion to the PBS series of the same name. I have a sentimental attachment to it, but I do also think it’s a useful cookbook to have.

It sounds similar to Deborah Madison’s “Vegetable Literacy”, which I love as a reference book.

I make a pumpkin cornbread year-round b/c it’s so easy and delicious. I’m sure a sweet potato version would be just as wonderful! I recall making a chocolate-beet cake many years ago, I can’t even imagine where the recipe was from - maybe Martha Stewart? I’ll search for it, I have a jar of beet purée in my freezer that needs to be put to use soon.

Yes! David Lebovitz has a chocolate beet cake recipe I've been dying to try. And yum to pumpkin cornbread... sounds easier than sweet potato cornbread :)

Can you share a link to the David Lebovitz recipe? I have a few of his cookbooks but I don’t remember that recipe. Thanks!

This is the pumpkin cornbread recipe I use, although I make it with AP flour and dairy milk (whole): https://www.thefullhelping.com/vegan-gluten-free-pumpkin-skillet-cornbread/

Cook’s Country wants me to sign up for their recipes before I can see them. Not interested in doing that. How about your own version of the recipe?

Just added the recipe to the end of the post.

The sweet potato cornbread recipe is behind a paywall. And it sounded so good.....

Thanks so much, Ali! You are aces at responding to your many messages. I went directly to the newsletter instead of the link through the first one I read and found the recipe there. Again, thanks for responding.

I'd like to access the sweet potato cornbread and beet brownies, but am unable to do either. Any idea where to find these recipes without paying for a Cook's Country membership? I don't cook enough to pay for access.

Sorry, but I still don’t see the recipe. And in trying I got a message that I needed to reauthenticate myself to the farm share newsletter in a separate email. Which I did, got the new email, checked in, saw these comments again but no link back to the complete post. Went back to the original post thinking the recipe might magically show up but it didn’t! Is it me? 🤷‍♀️

Can you try refreshing your browser? The recipe won't show up in your email inbox... I updated the post, but that won't reflect in email. Let me know if you're still having trouble.
